My name is Nobumitsu Takano. For many years I worked as a high school teacher, and alongside that career I have spent my free time researching the local history (郷土史) of Aizu, the region in Fukushima Prefecture where I am from.

This site is a small collection of essays and notes on the people and events of Aizu, from the medieval era through the Boshin War and into the modern period. Much of what follows is drawn from local archives and the work of other researchers I have come across along the way.

This is very much a work in progress, and I will be editing and adding to these pages over time. Thank you for reading.
